This Thursday, Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump will come to Capitol Hill for meetings with Speaker Paul Ryan, Majority Leader Mitch McConnell and other Republican Senate and House Members. Given Coffman’s stated support for Donald Trump as the nominee, will he sit down for a meeting to iron out plans for the Trump Ticket, like campaign travel to Colorado’s 6th District or joint Coffman fundraisers (remember Coffman paid Trump super-surrogate Ben Carson $15,000 to attend his fundraiser last cycle)?
“Amazingly, Congressman Mike Coffman thinks that Donald Trump is a viable option for President of the United States, which is a tacit endorsement of Trump’s vicious attacks on women and people with disabilities, mass deportation plan, and bigotry towards Muslims, among much more. One is left wondering if Mike Coffman is getting ready to meet with Trump this week to hash out their shared platform,” said DCCC Spokesman Tyler Law.
To be clear, supporting the bigoted, misogynistic, national security danger that is Donald Trump is not mandatory for Republicans. Mike Coffman made his choice and he needs to be ready to face the consequences of putting Trump before Colorado.
