Trump to Visit Capitol Hill Thursday – Will John Mica Meet With Trump After Defending his Offensive Rhetoric?

This Thursday, Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump will come to Capitol Hill for meetings with Speaker Paul Ryan, Majority Leader Mitch McConnell and other Republican Senate and House Members. Since Donald Trump won the Republican nomination last Tuesday, John Mica has supported Donald Trump and defended his offensive stances, calling his widely disavowed policy on banning Muslims “tolerant”:

I think he is tolerant,” Mica said of Trump’s policy toward Muslims, which he said is “basically the policy Congress has adopted and the American people support, which is you want to make certain who we’re letting in doesn’t pose a risk.”

Given John Mica’s endorsement of Donald Trump, will he sit down for a meeting to iron out plans for the Trump Ticket, like campaign travel to Orlando or joint Trump fundraisers?

“Amazingly, John Mica said that Donald Trump should be President of the United States, supporting and defending his intention to punish women for getting abortions, mass deportations of immigrants and more. Surely he will take this opportunity, with Trump on Capitol Hill, to sit down and iron out plans for this fantastically damaging Trump/Mica ticket,” said DCCC Spokesman Jermaine House.
