Trump’s Track Record Hurts New Jersey Families
Tonight, Donald Trump will hit the stage in Wildwood, New Jersey for his first rally in the state since taking office.
Unfortunately, the Garden State has found itself often on the receiving end of Trump’s ire. New Jersey has been disproportionately hurt by his reckless policies, and any Republican lining up behind him is complicit in the impact on New Jerseyans.
“Whether it’s raising taxes on hardworking families or blocking progress on the Gateway Tunnel, Donald Trump is bad for New Jersey, and any Republican who embraces him tonight owns his foolishness and damaging policies,” said DCCC Spokesperson Christine Bennett.
Check out Trump’s record of hurting New Jersey here:
Trump on Gateway:
- Trump refused to fund the Gateway Tunnel, an essential infrastructure project in Northern New Jersey.
- Trump also threatened to veto a government funding package if it included funding for the Gateway Tunnel, allegedly because of his animus towards New Jersey.

Trump on SALT:
- Trump and the GOP’s2017 tax bill‘s slammed the Garden State harder than any other state. The tax bill capped the state and local tax deduction, resulting in New Jersey being the only state where more than 10% of taxpayers would face a tax hike. Over 50% of taxpayers in three New Jersey congressional districts took a SALT deduction in 2016.
- Trump’s tax bill led to lower home valuesin some counties across the state.
- Trump’s tax bill may have forced New Jerseyans out of the state. As early as June 2018 real estate professionals began seeing signs of an exodus from the state to places like Florida.
Trump on the Environment:
- Trump said he would not sign PFAS regulations into law and threatened to vetoa bill that would require the EPA to regulate cancer-linked chemicals in the environment.
