Two-Faced Tony Tells Jan. 6 Service Members He’ll “Have [Their] Back” — After Turning His Back on Them

Weeks after voting against Jan. 6th committee, Tony Gonzales pays lip service to Texas National Guardsmen who deployed to U.S. Capitol

After the violent January 6th attack, 1,000 Texas National Guardsmen were deployed to the United States Capitol to “ensure a peaceful and safe transition of our government” — and now, as they await reimbursement, Tony Gonzales told local media he thinks it’s “critical” for Congress to send the message that politicians “have [their] back.”

But talk is cheap. Two-Faced Tony apparently didn’t feel that message from Congress was very critical a few short weeks ago, when he voted to stop a bipartisan committee from uncovering the truth about the violent January 6th attack on our democracy.

“If Tony Gonzales were sincere about supporting the service members and law enforcement officials who courageously protected our democracy after the violent insurrection on our Capitol, he would have voted for the committee to ensure an attack like this never happens again,” said DCCC spokesperson Monica Robinson.
