Univision: DCCC IE Invests in First Spanish Language Reservation in Houston

“The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee announced Tuesday that it will buy $1.5 million in advertising in the El Paso and Houston markets and… in the latter city it will air its first messages in Spanish.”

Today, the DCCC Independent Expenditure announced its first Spanish language broadcast reservation of 2020 in the Houston media market. The Spanish language reservation is part of the DCCC’s second round of 2020 reservations “that also includes Albuquerque, New Mexico and Charleston, South Carolina,” reflecting its first 2020 investment in Texas. The investment totals over $2.8 million in reservations.

This critical reservation is a result of the DCCC’s commitment to connect with the base of the Democratic Party and the early research investments conducted to understand the views and motivations of Latino voters in Texas and across the battlefield.

The round of IE reservations follows the DCCC’s initial $18.3 million in 2020 IE reservations that covered primarily states with overlapping Presidential and Senate races, as well as its initial $3 million digital inventory reservation.

“This election cycle the DCCC started conducting research on the ground and earning the trust of Latino voters in Texas and across the battlefield earlier than ever because we know that Latino voters are vital to Democrats’ success,” said DCCC Spokesperson Fabiola Rodriguez. “Today’s Spanish language IE reservation announcement builds on those early investments and proves how important Latino and Spanish language voters are in Texas, and the crucial part they will play in helping Democrats protect and expand our House majority.”
