UPDATE: Given the Russian intelligence officer bombshell, does Speaker Ryan now believe the Trump campaign colluded with Russia?

The evidence of collusion between the Trump campaign and the Russian government is getting stronger by the day.

The New York Times reported Tuesday that Donald Trump, Jr., Jared Kushner, and Trump Campaign Chairman Paul Manafort attended a meeting in June 2016 with a Russian lawyer about “very high level and sensitive information” and was a “part of Russia and its government’s support for Mr. Trump.” Donald Trump, Jr. eagerly set up the meeting, telling his contact that “if it’s what you say I love it especially later in the summer.”

The Trump Administration and Trump Jr. led the American people to believe that there were no more shoes to drop.

Those were lies.

This morning NBC News revealed that a “former Soviet counterintelligence officer” attended the meeting despite the Donald Trump. This latest piece of evidence isn’t just another smoking gun. It’s evidence that the Trump campaign was willing and eager to collude with multiple people connected to the Russian government in an attempt to distort and undermine our democracy.

It’s time for a straightforward answer to a simple question: Will Speaker Ryan put country before party and stand up to the Trump campaign’s collusion with the Russians?

“There is no innocent explanation for secretly meeting with a former Russian counterintelligence officer and then lying repeatedly about it, and Speaker Ryan must condemn it immediately,” said DCCC spokesperson Tyler Law. “A failure to do so is a clear indication that Paul Ryan will always put party before country, no matter the cost.”
