Hurd’s response: “My race is about me.”
This week during the NBC Commander-in-Chief Forum, Donald Trump was asked why he is prepared to act as our Commander-in-Chief.
His response? Because he “has good judgement.”
Let’s take a look at that judgement:
Donald Trump has said he “loves war” and claims to “know more about ISIS than the generals do.” He has said that “nuclear, the power, the devastation, is very important to [him]” and that he “want[s] to be unpredictable.”
Despite those shockingly dangerous and strongly-held positions, when Will Hurd was asked on whether he was comfortable with Trump having his finger on the nuclear button, his nonchalant response was: “my race is about me.”
“I’m sorry, Congressman Hurd. It’s not about you. This race is about the people of Texas and keeping them safe at home and abroad. Will Hurd’s failure to speak out against Trump’s disturbing national security positions is an abdication of leadership and demonstrates that House Republicans continue to put their party loyalty over the safety of our country?” asked Javier Gamboa of the DCCC.
