Is anyone else suffering from a serious case of déjà vu? Or is it just Fred Upton?
On January 8th, Upton was asked if he was planning to retire. His response: “we’ll make that decision in the next couple of weeks, for sure.”
………flash forward a “couple of weeks”………
Yesterday, Upton was asked the same question AGAIN. His response: “we’ll make a decision in the next couple of weeks, for sure.”
This repeat performance of course comes after Upton first said “we’ll make a decision in a couple of months,” last September. (Our records unfortunately don’t show if he ended the comment “for sure.”)
“We know that time is a flat circle for Upton, but he must come to the realization that he’s going to have to admit he’s retiring,” said DCCC spokesperson Sarah Guggenheimer. “It’s clear Upton is only postponing his retirement announcement to complete his transformation into a member of the Washington elite, focused solely on self-enrichment, no matter the cost to his constituents. But with mounting pressure from Michigan voters, time is running out.”
