Valadao Backpedals After Voting to Gut Clean Energy Tax Credits

David Valadao is once again running from the consequences of his own actions, this time sending a letter to the Senate begging them to “mitigate” the damage caused by his own vote to gut clean energy tax credits.

Reminder: Clean energy tax credits have secured an estimated $2.68 billion and created over 3,000 jobs in California’s 22nd district – boosting the local economy, lowering energy costs, and creating good-paying jobs that his constituents rely on to support their families.

Valadao signed on to three separate letters warning House leadership about exactly what would happen if these credits were slashed — from stalled infrastructure projects to higher utility bills for Californians. Then he cast the deciding vote to do it anyway.

DCCC Spokesperson Anna Elsasser:
“David Valadao can’t have it both ways. He cast the deciding vote to gut clean energy tax credits — jacking up energy costs, killing good-paying jobs, and halting critical projects before they even begin. Now that the consequences are hitting home, he’s scrambling to cover his tracks. But no amount of meaningless letters can undo the damage of his vote.”
