| After casting the deciding vote for the largest SNAP cuts in history, ripping away food assistance for more than 60,000 households in his district and the 1 in 4 Valley families who rely on SNAP to put food on the table, David “Valadao said he’s not sweating.”
The latest federal data shows his vote stripped food benefits for more than 4 million people and 1.5 million children nationwide. Despite that, he feels it “won’t hurt [him] in November.”
The disconnect couldn’t be more striking. Neither could the stakes for the Valley.
Randy Villegas, who grew up relying on Medi-Cal and SNAP, understands the reality that “voters in their district rely on food assistance while the cost of housing, gas and groceries keeps going up.”
