Valadao Plays Dumb on Health Care Crisis While His Constituents Suffer

Valadao repeatedly lies to constituents about GOP-caused health care crisis

WHAT VALADAO SAID: Valadao claimed that “[Republicans] haven’t got an exact answer from anyone in the administration…to tell us, ‘Here’s the reason why your [ACA premiums are] so bad.’”

THE TRUTH: Valadao is directly to blame for rising health care costs, especially steep in the Valley. While Valadao refused to come to work during the government shutdown and let ACA tax credits expire, he left over 1.5 million Californians to face skyrocketing premiums.

WHAT VALADAO SAID: Valadao promised to put the Valley over politics, vowing to “find a way to protect my hospitals and protect access to care in my district.”

THE TRUTH: Despite representing the highest share of Medicaid recipients of any House Republican, Valadao caved to his party bosses when he cast the deciding vote to gut Medicaid, jeopardizing as many as 300 rural hospitals across the country and putting 28 hospitals in California at risk.

TO TOP IT OFF: Valadao admitted that Republicans have no solution to the health care crisis they created: “I just don’t see [a Republican health care plan] happening, and I think the administration agrees with that.”

DCCC Spokesperson Anna Elsasser:
“While David Valadao turns a blind eye to the health care crisis he created, Central Valley families will continue to suffer. From gutting Medicaid to forcing hardworking Californians to pay skyrocketing premiums, voters are taking note that Valadao has done nothing but make their lives worse.”
