Valadao Slams the Door on His Own Constituents After Voting to Rip Away Their Health Care

After voting to gut health care for over 65,000 people in his district – home to the largest share of Medicaid recipients of any Republican district — David Valadao has sunk even lower: literally turning away his own constituents.

Dozens of Central Valley residents gathered at Valadao’s Bakersfield office to deliver petitions demanding he stop his reckless attacks on Medicaid. Instead of listening, Valadao’s staff refused to accept them and told the group no one was available.

“This is why we vote people into office….we need Valadao’s office to respond,” said Audrey Chavez, a CA-22 constituent.

The constituents blasted Valadao’s support for the Big, Ugly Law —a cruel scheme to gut Medicaid coverage for Valley families that his own voters overwhelmingly oppose.

DCCC Spokesperson Anna Elsasser
“When your voters show up in droves with real concerns, begging you not to rip away their health care – you answer the door. David Valadao is too cowardly to face the people he represents, because he knows they reject his cruel, reckless agenda.”
