Valadao Votes Against Bill to Help Address Baby Formula Shortage

Last night, the House passed the Infant Formula Supplemental Appropriations Act, to help address baby formula shortages in the U.S. David Valadao voted against it.

The formula shortage, caused by a manufacturing recall, has gravely affected families nationwide, yet Valadao voted against:

  • $28 million in emergency funding for the FDA to address and help prevent the formula shortage from happening again.

  • Providing the FDA resources so it can quickly and adequately inspect plants as it approves additional applications to sell formula in the US.

  • Boosting formula supply by allowing imports from FDA-approved facilities in Europe and Mexico

  • Providing the FDA resources so it can prevent fraudulent products from entering the marketplace.

This bill, combined with the recent House-passed Access to Baby Formula Act and the Biden administration’s recent authorization of the DPA, will help address supply chain challenges, safely boost formula production, and prevent something like this from happening again.

DCCC Spokesperson Maddy Mundy:
“If David Valadao had it his way the formula shortage would continue so Republicans could cynically exploit recalls for political gain and racial divide. Democrats worked to deliver solutions, but when given the opportunity to solve problems Valadao once again abandoned California families.”
