Yesterday, Donald Trump said he is open to restricting or banning birth control, saying when asked if he supports any restrictions on contraception: “We’re looking at that, and I’m going to have a policy on that very shortly, and I think it’s something that you’ll find interesting. I think it’s a smart decision. But we’ll be releasing it very soon.”
The Republican frontrunner for president has previously celebrated his “miracle” efforts to overturn Roe v. Wade and proposed a national abortion ban.
With Trump’s latest foreshadowing, Derrick Van Orden and his extreme Republican majority now have the green light to continue targeting access to birth control as well. Van Orden has proven he’ll side with Trump every step of the way. Just last week, Van Orden doubled down on his anti-abortion stance, saying he believes life begins at conception, and embraced the far-right House Freedom Caucus.
