Vicente Gonzalez Provides Critical Relief to Parents of More Than 238,000 Children in His District

Child Tax Credit payments will start hitting bank accounts today, benefitting nearly 95% of children in TX-15

Today, thanks to Democrats in Congress like Rep. Vicente Gonzalez (TX-15), the parents of 238,200 children in TX-15 will receive their first monthly Child Tax Credit payment.

The Child Tax Credit, which has been expanded and improved through the American Rescue Plan, will offer working parents a lifeline and help lift hundreds of thousands of children out of poverty in Texas. In some districts, the payments will reach almost every family — like in TX-15, where an extraordinary 94.5% of children in the district will benefit.

The monthly payments, which every Republican in Congress voted against, will start hitting bank accounts on July 15. This benefit will:

  • Support 238,200 kids in TX-15;
  • Provide up to $300 per month per child for children under six years of age;
  • Provide up to $250 per month per child for children six to 17 years of age; and
  • Help working Americans cover the costs of child care, prepare for the back-to-school season, and get parents back in the workforce, helping American families make ends meet.

“Texas Democrats like Vicente Gonzalez do the work every day to support hard-working families in Texas,” said DCCC spokesperson Monica Robinson. “These monthly Child Tax Credit payments will help lift thousands of children out of poverty and will provide relief for parents who are recovering from this historic crisis. House Democrats understand the realities that middle-class families face, and once again they’re delivering on their promises to get our country back on track.”
