Bustos on New Day: “I hope [Chairman Emmer] is watching this”
“Tom Emmer, stand with us. Stand against Russians stealing and hacking”
It’s been 9 days since DCCC Chairwoman Cheri Bustos challenged NRCC Chairman Tom Emmer to join her in pledging to never use hacked or stolen materials in campaigns. Since then, Chairman Emmer has stayed silent – which encourages Russian infiltration of our elections and attacks on our democracy – so Chairwoman Bustos called him out directly on national TV.
Now that the message has been delivered on national TV, Chairman Emmer and Republicans cannot continue to silently encourage the work of Vladimir Putin; they must say clearly whether they will stand up to attacks on our national security, or contribute to further hacking and meddling in American elections.

Bustos: As the Chair of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee I have issued a letter – a very decent, non-political letter to the Chairman of the National Republican Campaign Committee, Tom Emmer, to say “You need to stand with us. Please stand with us. And say the Russian government that ‘If we get information that has been stolen or hacked, and it involves any of our elections, that you will stand and say that you will not use that.’”
I have written this letter to Chairman Emmer, he has not even responded. So what I would say — I hope he’s watching this right now — I would say “Tom Emmer, stand with us. Stand against Russians stealing, hacking and using information in the political process to defile our democracy. Stand with us and stand against Russia on this.” But Alisyn, he hasn’t even responded to that request. We have signed a pledge saying we will not use any information that has been gotten from ill-gained processes to defile our election process.
