Six Months Since January 6th, House GOP Still Embracing Lies

For six months, House Republicans have continued to embrace lies, uplift conspiracies, and block the truth

Six months after the violent attack on our nation’s Capitol, House Republicans have doubled-down on the extremist lies and conspiracy theories that fueled the deadly insurrection that killed five people and injured nearly 140 police officers.

Despite the tragedy of this attack on democracy, House Republicans have sought to block every attempt to uncover the truth. In the six months since the fatal attack on January 6th, the House GOP caucus has:

  • Voted against certifying the elections right after a violent mob overtook the U.S. Capitol

  • Punished members who told the truth about January 6th and the 2020 election

  • Promoted members who repeated the dangerous conspiracies that led to the attack

  • Severely downplayed the severity of the attack, comparing the rioters to “tourists” and “misfits”

  • Voted against honoring the officers who protected them on January 6th

  • Voted against two bipartisan commissions to uncover the truth

  • And across the country, dozens of House Republican hopefuls have launched campaigns centered on furthering the Big Lie

“The words and actions of House Republicans these past six months have proven their caucus has driven far down the path of conspiracies, extremism, and lies,” said DCCC Spokesperson Chris Taylor. “The American people deserve better than representatives who choose to embrace dangerous lies, ignore the truth, and put our democracy at risk.”
