Yesterday, state officials announced that thanks to the American Rescue Plan, passed by House Democrats, Eastern Iowa Airport in Cedar Rapids will receive a critical $28 million investment, along with millions more headed to Dubuque and Waterloo regional airports, to modernize and better serve Iowans.
Hypocrite Ashley Hinson tried to block this critical infrastructure investment in Northeast Iowa by voting against the legislation that made this funding possible. And if Hinson got her way, Iowa’s first congressional district would have lost out on the following investments:
-
Eastern Iowa Airport — $28.4 million
-
Dubuque Regional Airport — $2.8 million
-
Waterloo Regional Airport — $2.2 million
This isn’t the first time Hinson the Hypocrite opposed investments that will directly improve communities in her district. Hinson previously has taken credit for touting $829.1 million of “game-changing” funding to modernize and expand locks and dams on the Mississippi River despite opposing the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law that made that funding possible.
“When Ashley Hinson had the chance to support infrastructure improvements in Northeast Iowa airports, which will stimulate local economic growth, she sided with her Washington party bosses and tried to stop these critical investments,” said DCCC spokesperson Elena Kuhn. “Ashley Hinson’s refusal to fight for IA-01 priorities, including funding to improve local infrastructure and airports, is a slap in the face to Northeast Iowans.”
