VOTED NO, TOOK THE DOUGH: Michelle Steel Hypocritically Touts Infrastructure Funding She Voted Against

Californians have every reason to celebrate the Bipartisan Infrastructure Deal – no thanks to Michelle Steel

Michelle Steel had the chance to stand with California families and vote for the game-changing Bipartisan Infrastructure Deal. Instead, she sided with her party bosses in opposing it.

That inconvenient truth isn’t stopping a hypocrite like Steel from lying to Californians and taking credit for funding secured by the Bipartisan Infrastructure Deal.

Despite voting against it, Steel touted the $8.3 million allocated for the dredging of Newport Harbor which, by her own admission, will improve safety and protect Californians’ homes and businesses. The dredging of Newport Harbor is included in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ $14 billion work plan for the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, which will enhance waterways, strengthen supply chains, defend against the impacts of climate change and create good-paying jobs in the process.

“Michelle Steel admits that the Bipartisan Infrastructure Deal protects Californians’ homes and small businesses — but when it mattered, she couldn’t find the courage to stand up to her party bosses and vote for this once-in-a-generation investment,” said DCCC spokesperson Maddy Mundy. “The residents of California’s 45th district deserve a representative who will be honest with them at home while fighting for them in Washington. It’s easy to take credit after the fact, but when it matters, Steel can’t be trusted to protect California families.”
