Second time isn’t the charm for vulnerable Republicans Ken Calvert, John Duarte, Mike Garcia, Michelle Steel, and David Valadao, who doubled down on supporting election denier Jim Jordan in his second failed attempt for speaker — leaving the People’s House in paralysis, and the resources Californians rely on in limbo.
Instead of embracing a bipartisan governing coalition, these members folded to their puppet-master Donald Trump, who endorsed Jordan earlier this month.
If California Republicans get their way, speaker candidate Jim Jordan will have the green light to push an extreme, dangerous agenda that:
- Defunds federal law enforcement.
- Passes a nationwide abortion ban with no exceptions.
- Repeals investments that are creating good-paying jobs and reinvigorating American manufacturing.

Californians are watching these representatives actively work against their interests, and will resoundingly reject their extremism next year.”
