Vulnerable House Republicans Dash Off to Florida with D.C. Lobbyists and Big Donors After Gutting Medicaid

After casting a deciding vote to make cruel cuts to health care coverage for millions of Americans and take food off the tables of hungry children and seniors, vulnerable House Republicans were caught dashing off to the Ritz-Carlton in Key Biscayne, Florida for a weekend reception with big donors and D.C. lobbyists.

Vulnerable Republicans have yet to meet with their constituents after voting to gut Medicaid to fund trillions in tax cuts for the ultra-wealthy, but they’ve somehow made time to rub elbows with their party’s elite. The list of Republicans hiding out includes:

  • Nick Begich (AK-AL)

  • Kevin Kiley (CA-03)

  • Gabe Evans (CO-08)

  • Mariannette Miller-Meeks (IA-01)

  • Zach Nunn (IA-03)

  • Tom Barrett (MI-07)

  • Ryan Zinke (MT-01)

  • Don Bacon (NE-02)

  • Tom Kean Jr. (NJ-07)

  • Nick Lalota (NY-01)

  • Mike Lawler (NY-17)

  • Brian Fitzpatrick (PA-01)

  • Ryan Mackenzie (PA-07)

  • Jen Kiggans (VA-02)

  • Bryan Steil (WI-01)

DCCC Spokesperson Justin Chermol:
“House Republicans are refusing to meet with constituents after enacting the largest cut to Medicaid in American history. It’s clear swing district Republicans are either too scared or just don’t care what their constituents have to say.”
