Vulnerable House Republicans Vote to Protect Trump’s Reckless Tariffs

The measure, introduced by Democrats, would have canceled Trump’s cost-spiking tariffs on Canadian goods

Vulnerable House Republicans representing the most competitive districts on the battlefield voted tonight to shield Trump’s cost-spiking tariffs on Canada.

Recent studies have found Trump’s reckless tariffs are costing average American households more than a thousand dollars a year. But vulnerable House Republicans chose fealty to Donald Trump and their Deputy Speaker over rising costs haunting their constituents.

DCCC Spokesperson Justin Chermol:
“Fearing retribution from their wildly unpopular leader who is tanking the U.S. economy in real-time, vulnerable House Republicans chose party loyalty over affordability. Their vote to continue Trump’s reckless tariffs proves they have no plan to address rising costs.”
