Vulnerable New York Republicans Are Riddled with Scandals

New York Republicans have a serious problem with scandals – just ask Anthony D’Esposito, Mike Lawler, and ex-congressman George Santos.

In the past month alone, two of the most vulnerable New York Republicans have been exposed for their own outrageous wrongdoings.

On Long Island, a groundbreaking report in The New York Times exposed that Anthony D’Esposito gave his fiancée’s daughter and the woman he was having an affair with jobs on his congressional payroll – a potential violation of multiple House ethics rules.

In the Lower Hudson Valley, The New York Times revealed that Mike Lawler dressed up in “blackface as part of a Halloween costume” — then defended the blackface as “the sincerest form of flattery.”  Politico also revealed that Lawler twice refused to condemn racist slurs and language at events and interviews in just the last month – underscoring that he’s repeatedly allowed dangerous and hateful rhetoric to go unchecked.

Flash back nearly a year ago, and D’Esposito and Lawler – alongside LaLota, Molinaro, and Williams – repeatedly and unnecessarily stalled an expulsion of serial fraudster and ex-Congressman George Santos until their own increasing vulnerability forced them to.
