Tenney turns her back on Central New York women in amicus brief urging the Supreme Court to overturn 50 years of legal precedent in Roe v. Wade
Today, vulnerable Republican Claudia Tenney joined her most extreme colleagues in urging the Supreme Court to overturn Roe v. Wade, a move that aims to end safe, legal abortion and throw reproductive rights in jeopardy for women across New York.
Despite the fact that 77% of Americans support Roe v. Wade and its protections, 184 House Republicans signed an amicus brief to urge the Supreme Court to overturn Roe v. Wade and end 50 years of legal precedent when it considers a restrictive 15-week ban out of Mississippi next term.
Tenney’s call to end safe, legal abortion is the latest proof that she is too extreme and out-of-step — and women in New York deserve better than this shameful attack on their healthcare.
“Rather than standing up for New Yorkers, Claudia Tenney is launching an all-out attack on reproductive health care,” said DCCC spokesperson Abel Iraola. “Most Americans overwhelmingly agree that it’s not up to politicians to make personal healthcare decisions for women. So it’s absolutely shameful that Claudia Tenney is spending her time in Congress taking aim at women’s health care instead of focusing on helping working families in Central New York recover from this pandemic.”
