Vulnerable Republicans Leave Town Without Immigration Deal to Protect DREAMers

Vulnerable House Republicans just left Washington D.C. without garnering the requisite numbers of signatures to force a vote on immigration legislation. This failure comes after numerous Republicans made empty promises that they would get the 25 Republican members needed this week.

Why is this important? Vulnerable Republicans have only TWO legislative days to act on the immigration proposals: June 25 and July 23.

It’s pathetic that House Republicans left town without moving forward with legislation to protect DREAMers – and it’s inexcusable that they were too weak to secure a deal to even debate immigration legislation,” said Javier Gamboa of the DCCC. “Unfortunately, this is yet another proof point that Americans can’t trust Republicans to act in the best interests of DREAMers and the immigrant community.”
