Washington Post: Republicans Hit the Brakes on Hitting the Gas

As the price of gas sits above $4/gal nationwide, House Republicans have completely abandoned talking about it. Even the GOP representatives who ran on lowering gas prices are defending Trump’s war of choice in Iran — at the expense of hardworking families.

Rebecca Cooke hit back hard against Derrick Van Orden (R, WI-03):
“He’s losing sight of the direct correlation of gas prices and where this rise in prices is coming from. It’s like delusional.”

Elaine Luria slammed Jen Kiggans (R, VA-02):
“She does not actually care about the fact that the people of Hampton Roads are paying 50 percent more for gas.”

The Post also noted that “Kiggans scrubbed any mention of gas prices from her campaign website after prices started to go up.”

Bobby Pulido called out Monica De La Cruz (R, TX-15):
“I don’t hear any type of fight in her when it comes to fighting for gas prices. She just stays silent.”

DCCC Spokesperson Liam Buckley:
“House Republicans broke their promise to lower costs at the gas pump, and hardworking families are paying the price. Americans are tired of Republicans’ pathetic inaction in the face of rising costs — they’ll vote them out in November.”
