Do Washington Republicans Agree That The President Should “Not Take Responsibility” For Coronavirus Testing Failures?

As the coronavirus continues to spread across the nation, the American people deserve to know if Washington Republicans agree with President Trump that he should “not take responsibility” for administration failures to make coronavirus tests available to Americans across the country. As a reminder, Washington Republicans refused to support a bipartisan relief package until Trump tweeted his support.

CNN:
“I don’t take responsibility at all,” he said, insisting problems that led to slow test-kit distribution were the fault of previous administrations. “We were given a set of circumstances and we were given rules, regulations and specifications from a different time.”

Lack of testing has been widely blamed for the U.S.’ failure to contain the outbreak. Despite being warned in January about the need for coronavirus tests, the U.S. has tested fewer patients since January than South Korea tests in a single day.

Statement From DCCC Spokesperson Robyn Patterson
“Americans deserve to know if Washington Republicans agree that the President bears no responsibility for his Administration’s failure to make tests available to people desperately seeking medical attention for the coronavirus.”
