Washington Republicans’ Hand-Picked Candidate Esther Joy King Gets Democratic Challengers for Her Second Failed Campaign

King’s campaign is already doomed as she continues to make clear she’s more interested in serving extreme Washington leaders than Illinoisans

Failed candidate Esther Joy King’s election prospects for her second misguided campaign just got tougher as two Democratic candidates entered the race today. It’s no surprise why Illinoisans are lining up to defeat King — she’s proved time and again that she is out of touch with Illinois’ 17th Congressional district.

Just last week, King staked out an extreme position opposing the bipartisan infrastructure bill that would fix roads and bridges and create good-paying union jobs in Northwestern Illinois. Instead of working across the aisle to deliver results, King said she’d join in “fight[ing] this wasteful bill with all we’ve got!”

DCCC spokesperson Elena Kuhn:

“Failed candidate Esther Joy King’s second campaign is already doomed to end up like her first, as she once again sides with extreme Washington Republican leaders instead of supporting economic growth for Northwestern Illinois. It’s no wonder why Illinoisans are lining up to defeat her — King’s record makes clear she can’t be trusted to work together to deliver results.”
