VIRGINIA MERCURY: “Wittman has received tens of thousands of dollars in campaign contributions from defense contractors and reported stock holdings in companies with military ties” while voting for the war
Congressman Rob Wittman is facing fresh scrutiny over his stock portfolio, campaign contributions, and repeated votes to continue the war in Iran.
New reporting from the Virginia Mercury reveals Wittman “received tens of thousands of dollars in campaign contributions from defense contractors” in just the eight months since the start of the war in Iran. Wittman also maintains “stock holdings in companies with military ties,” all while he repeatedly votes to continue the war.
The Mercury reports that Wittman said there are “some good things” coming out of the war in Iran. For Wittman, that means raking in campaign contributions and a bump in his portfolio. But for his constituents? It means higher prices on gas, diesel, and groceries.
DCCC Spokesperson Eli Cousin: “Rob Wittman has become part of the culture of corruption in Washington that is costing Virginia families. While Wittman rakes in campaign contributions and sees a bump in his portfolio, Virginians are left paying more for gas and diesel because of his votes to continue the war.”
