WATCH: Christian Castelli Claims January 6th Attack Not “Remotely Close to a Real Insurrection”

Less than two weeks from the midterm election, Republican candidate Christian Castelli (NC-06) admitted to FOX 8 that he believes the deadly January 6th attack on our nation’s capital was “nothing remotely close to a real insurrection.”

Castelli’s comments trying to diminish the gravity of the violent attempt to overturn the results of the 2020 election are dangerous, and an insult to the five police officers who lost their lives and the 140 officers who were injured because of the attack.

“Christian Castelli called the deadly attack that left 140 police officers injured and five officers dead ‘nothing remotely close to a real insurrection’,” said DCCC spokesperson Monica Robinson. “If that’s what he believes, North Carolinians should be deeply concerned about what Castelli thinks a ‘real’ insurrection looks like. If you can’t stand up for American democracy then you don’t deserve a seat in Congress.”
