Today, the DCCC released its second TV ad in Michigan’s 3rd Congressional District, “Rest of Us,” which begins airing today in the Grand Rapids media market. “Rest of Us” shines a spotlight on Republican multi-millionaire Peter Meijer failing to understand what Michiganders care about, including health care costs and protecting pre-existing conditions.
Meijer’s pledge to “fully repeal” the Affordable Care Act could lead to older Michiganders being charged five times more for their care and people with pre-existing conditions being kicked off their insurance or being charged more.
Statement from DCCC Spokesperson Courtney Rice:
“When Peter Meijer pledged to repeal the Affordable Care Act and the protections that come with it, he sent a clear signal to every Michigander that he doesn’t understand the issues they care about, like affordable health care. Why? Thanks to his $50 million trust fund, he’s never had to worry about how he’ll pay for his health care.”
This is the second TV ad from the DCCC airing in MI-03. The first, “Struggling,” portrays Meijer as an out-of-touch millionaire who just doesn’t get the struggles middle-class families in the district face.
