WATCH AND LISTEN: TWO NEW DCCC ADS HIT BALDERSON ON TAX SCAM, MAKE CLEAR HE’D BE MORE OF THE SAME
RADIO AND TV SPOTS HIGHLIGHT BALDERSON THREAT TO SOCIAL SECURITY AND MEDICARE
Today, in the special election for Ohio’s Twelfth Congressional District, the DCCC announced two new ads – one on television and one on radio – showing that Troy Balderson’s support for damaging, partisan policies like the Republican corporate tax giveaway make it clear he will be more of the same in Washington. Both ads also illustrate why politicians like Troy Balderson who give tax handouts to corporations without a way to pay for them are a threat to Central Ohioans’ Medicare and Social Security benefits. The ads will begin airing today, and are the second and third ads the DCCC has aired in the OH-12 special election.
The thirty-second TV ad, “When You,” shows that Balderson would be part of the problem in Congress, supporting a corporate tax giveaway that will add $2 trillion to the national debt, which means either cutting Medicare and Social Security or raising taxes on our kids and grandkids.
The sixty-second radio ad, “Special,” again targets Balderson for his support of the Republican corporate tax giveaway, and also highlights his plan to raise the retirement age for Social Security and Medicare. Again, listeners hear that Troy Balderson would be just another typical politician not thinking of the consequences of his actions in Washington.
“It may be easy for Troy Balderson to follow the party line by supporting the Republican corporate tax giveaway without a plan to pay for it, but that’s exactly the problem: he’s more of the same when Central Ohio deserves better. Troy Balderson in Congress would pose a clear and present danger to the Social Security and Medicare benefits that folks have spent a lifetime paying into, and Central Ohioans should reject him.” – DCCC Spokesperson Jacob Peters
TV Script:
When you buy a car … or house … or go on vacation, you have to think about how you’re paying for it. But that’s not how it works in Congress. Take Troy Balderson, he supports giving corporations a massive tax break that helps rack up nearly two trillion dollars in debt. Balderson’s plan either means cutting Medicare and Social Security or raising taxes on our kids and grandkids. Troy Balderson, he’d be more of the same in Washington.
Radio Script:
FRANK: Hey Lois, how’s it going? LOIS: Good Frank. You having the usual? FRANK: Not today, I’ll take the special. Speaking of the usual, you seen those ads about Troy Balderson? LOIS: How can you miss em? FRANK: Guy just seems like more of the same. LOIS: How so? FRANK: Well for starters Troy Balderson supports a massive tax break for corporations. LOIS: That’s not gonna help me. FRANK: It’s worse than that, because Balderson doesn’t have a way to pay for it. The plan will help blow nearly a two trillion dollar hole in the debt so to pay for it he could either cut Medicare and Social Security or raise taxes on future generations. LOIS: Well those aren’t good choices. FRANK: And Balderson even said he supports raising the eligibility age for Social Security and Medicare. LOIS: Guess that’s easy to say when you’re a politician. BACKGROUND VOICE: Order up. LOIS: Here’s your meatloaf. FRANK: Glad I went with something different, and on Tuesday, seems like we should vote against Troy Balderson, he’d just be more of the same in Washington.
