The DCCC announces its latest TV ad in Iowa’s 1st Congressional District. The ad “Ten” holds Rep. Rod Blum accountable for his record of voting ten times to turn his back on Iowans and vote to gut protections for those with pre-existing conditions like asthma, cancer and diabetes.
Rep. Rod Blum has voted multiple times to repeal the Affordable Care Act, which would’ve allowed insurers to deny protections for those with pre-existing conditions. In 2017, he voted for the AHCA, which the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office and Politifact confirmed would gut protections for those with pre-existing conditions like asthma, cancer and diabetes.
“There’s no issue more personal than healthcare,” said DCCC spokesperson Rachel Irwin. “Rep. Rod Blum has turned his back on Iowans by siding with insurance companies and voting to make it harder for those with pre-existing conditions like asthma, cancer and diabetes to get the care they need. Blum’s ten votes paint a clear picture of who he’s working for and it’s not hardworking Iowans.”
Script:
They are called pre-existing conditions and 1.3 million Iowans suffer from it.
But instead of helping us get the care we need, Rod Blum voted to let insurance companies gut protections for them.
And he didn’t vote that way just once, Blum voted that way ten times. Ten. Ten different deliberate decisions to turn his back on Iowans who are sick.
After Rod Blum has voted that many times against us, isn’t it time we return the favor.
