WATCH: NEW DCCC AD THIRD TO HIGHLIGHT PETITION SCANDAL ENGULFING SCOTT TAYLOR

Today, in the race for Virginia’s Second Congressional District, the DCCC announced a new television ad that is the third in a series on the petition scandal engulfing Rep. Scott Taylor and his campaign. The ad begins airing in the district this weekend.

The ad, “Overwatch,” again uses local news coverage to highlight developments in the scandal including a judge finding forgeries in signatures submitted by his campaign, audio of Taylor admitting he was aware of these signature efforts, and his ‘frantic’ phone call to intimidate the constituent who first uncovered the forgery.

“Rep. Scott Taylor still hasn’t given a full accounting of his involvement in this forgery scandal. Taylor still hasn’t said why he called the constituent who discovered the first instance of forgery and tried to intimidate her into silence. The longer these questions linger, the worse it looks for Scott Taylor.”– DCCC Spokesperson Jacob Peters

Script:

Narrator: “Return your attention to Congressman Scott Taylor. Does his behavior appear…innocent? A judge found forgery and fraud in signatures collected by his campaign. Taylor admits he knew they were collecting the signatures.”

(Taylor Audio): “I’m on the record saying I was aware”

Narrator: “Taylor pressured the constituent who first uncovered the fake ballot signatures to withdraw her claims. The woman described Taylor as “frantic”, and felt intimidated. Virginia State Police are investigating. And the pressure on Scott Taylor … is mounting.”
