WATCH: New DCCC TV Ad Exposes Chabot’s Missing Campaign Funds

Today, the DCCC released a new television ad in Ohio’s 1st Congressional District that begs an important question: Why should Cincinnati voters trust Congressman Chabot to look out for them when a federal investigation is looking into rampant corruption in his campaign?

Missing” untangles Shady Chabot’s corruption and asks how $123,000 went missing from his campaign coffers. But it doesn’t stop there… In the wake of this bombshell discovery, his Campaign Manager went into hiding, his campaign tried to pin the blame on a Treasurer who didn’t know he had the job, a Grand Jury was convened, and just weeks ago, Chabot’s campaign confirmed they were investigated by the FBI.

But while Chabot won’t tell you where the $123,000 in campaign money went, he has been perfectly clear on who is responsible. As a reminder, in 2018, Chabot went on the record on campaign corruption saying: “We’re dealing with a sleazy group of people and it starts at the top of the ticket.”

“Shady Chabot is looking out for himself and his family, not Ohioans,” said DCCC Spokesperson Sarah Guggenheimer. “With an FBI investigation looking into $123,000 that went missing from his campaign, a Campaign Manager who went into hiding, and a Treasurer who didn’t know he had the job, it’s abundantly clear that Chabot has become everything that’s wrong with Washington in his quarter of a century in office. Cincinnatians are right to want a representative who has their backs, not one trying to avoid the feds. Voters will reject Congressman Chabot because they simply can’t trust him to look out for them.”

Ad Script:

Narrator: A hundred and twenty-three thousand dollars.

Gone.

A hundred and twenty-three thousand dollars unaccounted for in Steve Chabot’s campaign account.

An FBI investigation.

Chabot’s campaign tried to blame his treasurer of nine years.

So they asked him … and he didn’t even know he was

Chabot’s treasurer.

A hundred and twenty-three thousand dollars that can’t be found.

Let’s find … a new representative.

The DCCC’s previous ad, “website” showed voters that Shady Chabot has used his position to shell out over $150,000 to his son-in-law to update his website, which is just as clunky and outdated as the Congressman.
