Today, the DCCC launched its first TV ad in Nebraska’s 2nd Congressional District, “Yes Man,” which highlights Congressman Don Bacon’s “Hell Yes” vote to gut protections for Nebraskans with pre-existing conditions and institute an Age Tax.
As a Member of Congress, Bacon took more than $269,000 from the insurance industry and Bacon proudly voted ‘Hell Yes’ on legislation that would cause 175,000 Nebraskans to lose health insurance, increase average marketplace premiums in Nebraska by $1,427, and allow insurance companies to “charge people over 50 over five times more than they charge other people.”
“No matter how hard he tries, Congressman Don Bacon can’t paper over his record of voting to strip health care away from his constituents and gut protections for pre-existing conditions. Bacon’s ‘Hell Yes’ vote was dangerous and reckless, particularly during a global pandemic, but should really come as no surprise,” said DCCC Spokesperson Sarah Guggenheimer. “After accepting over a quarter million in campaign contributions from insurance companies in his short time in office, it’s clear who Bacon works for in the halls of Congress, and it certainly isn’t Nebraskans.”
Ad script:
Washington’s full of “yes men” who do the bidding of the special interests.
Even worse, Congressman Bacon is a “hell yes” man.
Bacon bragged he was voting (quote) “hell yes” to gut protections for people with pre-existing conditions, like diabetes and cancer.
And “hell yes” to an “age tax” — charging older Nebraskans more for their care.
Congressman Bacon — hell yes for Washington special interests.
Heck No for Nebraska.
