WATCH: New DCCC TV Ad Highlights Young’s Record of Putting Special Interests Ahead of Middle-Class Iowans

Today, the DCCC launched its first TV ad in Iowa’s 3rd Congressional District, “Magic,” which highlights rejected Congressman David Young’s record of putting wealthy special interests ahead of hardworking Iowans in Washington.

As a Member of Congress, Young took millions from special interests donors to bail out his re-election efforts. In return, he voted to give them billions in tax breaks. The GOP Tax Scam Young voted for gives more than 80% of its benefits to the wealthiest 1% of Americans and a huge handout to large corporations like the ones supporting Young’s political career. The bill even incentivized corporations to ship jobs overseas, all while making millions of middle class families pay more over time and putting Medicare and Social Security at risk.

“As hardworking Iowa families are struggling to make ends meet amid economic fallout from the coronavirus pandemic, the last thing they can afford is rejected Congressman David Young going back to Washington to look out for his wealthy special interest friends. David Young’s record speaks for itself: when he had the chance, Young voted to give the top one percent a huge handout, putting Iowans’ hard-earned Medicare and Social Security benefits at risk,” said DCCC Spokesperson Brooke Goren.

NARRATOR: Former Congressman David Young is fond of magic. Unfortunately in Washington, he played tricks on Iowans.

Young took over three and a half million from the special interests.

And voted to give them billions in tax breaks.

Young’s final trick?  Jeopardizing Social Security and Medicare — hitting seniors the hardest.

We just can’t afford David Young’s Washington tricks, again.
