WATCH: NEW IL-13 DCCC AD SHOWS HOW CONGRESS AND CORPORATE CASH HAVE CHANGED RODNEY DAVIS

Highlights vote to gut protections for preexisting conditions

Today, in the race for Illinois’ Thirteenth Congressional District, the DCCC announced a new television ad that exposes how his time in Washington collecting campaign cash from special interests has changed Rep. Rodney Davis. It specifically calls out Davis for supporting a partisan health care bill that, among other things, unequivocally would have allowed insurance companies to discriminate against individuals with preexisting conditions. The ad begins airing across the district today, and is the first ad from the DCCC in the race.

The ad, “Being,” highlights the five million dollars in campaign donations Davis has taken from corporate special interests and how, in return, he has supported their agenda. The ad drills down on Davis’ vote for a partisan health care bill that would have allowed insurance companies to discriminate against people with preexisting conditions and charge Americans more for their coverage.

“All it takes is a quick look at his record to know that Washington and its corporate cash have changed Rep. Rodney Davis, and that he is putting those special interest donors ahead of his own constituents back in Illinois. There’s no other explanation for why Davis would vote to allow insurance companies to discriminate against folks in his district with preexisting conditions and charge older Americans more for their health care.”– DCCC Spokesperson Jacob Peters

Script:

Being in Congress changes people … Rodney Davis has taken nearly five million dollars from corporate special interests … and he’s going right along with their agenda. Like Rodney Davis voting for the partisan health care bill that … Allows insurance companies to discriminate against people with pre-existing conditions … And charge older Americans 5 times more than younger people. AARP called it, “An Age Tax.” Rodney Davis is putting the special interests first.
