WATCH: Rep. Emilia Sykes Fighting for Lower Costs, Affordable Health Care for Ohioans

While Washington Republicans refuse to do their jobs or work to make health care affordable for Americans, Congresswoman Emilia Sykes is pushing for health care tax credits that hundreds of thousands of Ohioans rely on.

REMINDER: Without ACA tax credits, 29,000 people in OH-13 will face skyrocketing health care costs as their premiums increase by an average of 70%. AultCare already announced the cancellation of health care plans affecting 6,000 Ohio enrollees.

Sykes: “Our priorities are lowering costs, keeping families safe and ensuring folks have access to quality affordable health care, and very specifically for Ohio’s 13th district where we rely upon health care systems as not only providing U.S. health, but our largest employers. It is very problematic. This health care crisis that the Republicans have left us.”

“But unfortunately, my colleagues on the other side of the aisle do not want to make sure that we [are] operating in a way [in] which people’s costs are getting lowered and they can have access to health care and good jobs that help pay and put food on the table.”

Sykes: “Well, for districts like mine, we will be held hostage if the Obamacare subsidies are not extended. We’ve already heard health care insurers cancel 6,000 people’s health insurance. Not just individuals, but these are the plans that small businesses use so that they can employ people, pay them a good wage and continue to be the backbone of our economy.”

“The largest employer in my district is our health care providers, health care systems. And so we need them to have some predictability about how they’re going to be reimbursed, so that they can continue to employ people; keep our economy strong.”
