WATCH “SIDE TABLE”: DCCC Collaborates with Comedy Writers & Producers on Third Digital Ad Exposing GOP Tax Scam

Third in a series, Ad exposes Republican tax scam for giving massive handouts to the wealthy at the expense of the middle class

RNC Polling shows the Democrats’ sustained & focused messaging against the tax scam has been devastatingly effective

“The Republican tax scam exposed House Republicans’ harmful agenda and has been a massive political liability in the midterms,” said DCCC Spokesman Tyler Law. “Democrats have remained laser focused on defining the tax scam as a massive handout to large corporations and the very rich at the expense of affordable healthcare, Social Security and Medicare. There’s no question that the sustained, unified Democratic message has resonated with the American people and put Democrats in a great position to win back the House.”

As part of a three-part digital ad campaign, the DCCC today released a new digital ad titled “Side Table”.  All three ads in the series, including previously released “Bonus Checks” and “Diamond Teeth”, are part of a sustained Democratic messaging campaign against the Republican tax scam. “Side Table” will begin running on October 3rd on Facebook and YouTube. All three of the ads were written and directed by comedy writer/producer Ben Wexler, whose credits include Arrested DevelopmentFunny or DieCommunity, and other television shows and movies. Hans Sahni and Rob Hatch-Miller, who have worked on Funny or Die, Comedy Central and more, also co-produced the ad.

Bloomberg: Internal GOP Poll: ‘We’ve Lost the Messaging Battle’ on Tax Cuts

Key Points:

  • By a 2-to-1 margin — 61 percent to 30 percent — respondents said the law benefits “large corporations and rich Americans” over “middle class families,”
  • “…we’ve lost the messaging battle on the issue.”
  • It attributes that finding to “a fairly disciplined Democrat attack against the recent tax cuts.”
