Ways & Means Republicans Greenlight Scheme to Raise Taxes On Middle-Class Families, Kick Millions Off Health Insurance

This morning, Republicans on the Ways & Means Committee voted to advance a massive tax scam that would result in millions losing health insurance, raise costs on everyday Americans, and jack up taxes for middle-class families while giving a huge handout to the ultra-rich.

Every single Republican on the Committee voted to pass an out-of-control tax scam that:

• Permanently lowers taxes for millionaires and raises taxes for the working class.

• Fails to extend Affordable Care Act tax credits that will result in millions losing high-quality, private sector health insurance.

• Hands out a permanent estate tax break to the wealthiest 0.1%, costing everyday Americans $200 billion.

Even worse: When the vulnerable House Republicans had a chance to vote on an amendment that would extend ACA tax credits for millions of Americans, they refused.

“Republicans are melting down as they push forward a scheme to deliver trillions in tax breaks to their billionaire donors like Elon Musk at the expense of hardworking, middle-class families. If the so-called moderate House Republicans support turning these provisions into law, they might as well consider it their notice for early retirement.”
