This Week…
Following the tragedy in Orlando this weekend, House Democrats continue to focus on tough and smart policies to combat ISIS and help make Americans safer at home and abroad. Meanwhile, House Republicans continue to stand in the way of even the most obvious, commonsense step that Congress could take immediately to improve our safety: closing the loophole that allows suspects on the FBI Terrorist Watchlist to purchase firearms.
And as POLITICO reports, Republicans are back in the hot seat over their refusal to act. Congressional Democrats are “demanding that recalcitrant GOP lawmakers join their effort to bar suspected terrorists from buying guns or face the political fallout.”
As a reminder, House Republicans voted 11 times in December and January to prevent a vote on legislation that would keep lethal weapons out of the hands of FBI’s Terrorist Watchlist suspects.
