Week in Review: Trump is BAD NEWS for Coffman & he just doesn’t seem to get it
Republicans across the country had a really bad week. But you’d be hard pressed to find many people who are seeing their reelection chances dissipate as fast as Congressman Coffman’s.
Here’s a rundown:
- Coffman was called out for paving the way for the “monster that is Donald Trump.”
- A local column painted this rosy picture for Coffman:
“…if Trump snags the nomination, an anti-Trump electorate could trample anything that ends in -R, including a Colorado Senator, Congressman Mike Coffman and possibly Congressman Ken Buck.”
- Coffman ended his terrible week by voting to tear innocent children away from their families – exactly the type of vote that will remind voters of Coffman’s long history of anti-immigrant rhetoric.
- The Cook Political Report has taken notice, identifying CO06 as a district where Trump or Cruz would be a disaster:
“Among the types of seats Democratic strategists believe Trump or Cruz could put into play are: 1) high-Hispanic districts, 2) high-education districts and 3) high-income districts. There’s no doubt Trump or Cruz could cause Republicans huge problems in heavily Latino districts, including CA-10, CA-21, CA-25, CO-06, FL-26, NV-03, NV-04 and TX-23. And the heavier the drag from the top of the ticket, the more expensive these types of seats will be to defend.”
