Westminster Voter Calls Out Gabe Evans for Gutting Coloradans’ Health Care

“How many Americans will die… to give tax cuts to the wealthy, Rep. Evans?”

Vulnerable GOP Congressman Gabe Evans is taking more heat for repeatedly putting the wealthiest billionaires first and his constituents last.

In a new letter to the editor, a Westminster resident puts Evans on blast for casting the deciding vote to gut Medicaid – a program that roughly one in four Coloradans in Evans’ district depend on – to pay for tax cuts for billionaires. Evans’ Medicaid cuts could force at least six hospitals across Colorado to close.

The voter also points out that Evans voted to RAISE health care costs on even more Coloradans by refusing to extend the ACA subsidies. Evans’ constituents have been among the hardest hit by the expired credits, with some in his district paying nearly 200% more for the same health care plans this year compared to 2025.

The voter bluntly asks: “How many hospitals will close and Americans will die from preventable diseases to give tax cuts to the wealthy, Rep. Evans?”

Brighton Standard Blade: It’s time for Evans to help his constituents

  • When Rep. Gabe Evans voted to pass HR 1, the One Big Beautiful Bill Act, he approved cutting Medicaid $1 trillion over 10 years.
  • This bill spends $1 trillion over the decade on tax cuts for the top 1%, including half of it on those making over $200 million a year.
  • This ugly bill also cuts SNAP, harming Colorado’s working families trying to feed their kids nutritious food.
  • How many hospitals will close and Americans will die from preventable diseases to give tax cuts to the wealthy, Rep. Evans?
  • Rep. Gabe Evans also voted recently against extending the healthcare subsidies to Americans through the Affordable Care Act. The Colorado Division of Insurance estimates that healthcare premiums will double for 224,000 Coloradans this month unless Republicans vote with Democrats to extend the subsidies.
  • It is long past time for Congressman Evans to protect his constituents, rather than shower tax breaks on billionaires who should pay their fair share to fund government services.
