Schweikert admitted to falling asleep during vote to rip health care, food assistance away from thousands of his own constituents.
Sleepy David Schweikert should be “embarrassed” for falling asleep at work and refusing to stand up for the thousands of Arizonans in his district who rely on Medicaid and food assistance. New analysis shows that approximately 26,307 of Schweikert’s constituents would lose their health care. The bill, a centerpiece of the Trump-aligned House GOP agenda, was passed during a late-night session while many Americans were asleep. As it turns out, Schweikert was asleep, too.

“Next thing I know, I’m holding a cup of coffee and my phone is ringing saying the vote is on. I’d fallen asleep,” he said.
Rep. David Schweikert told conservative podcaster Christopher DeSimone that he missed the deciding vote on the GOP budget because he fell asleep—but says he would’ve voted yes on a bill slashing Medicaid and SNAP.
