What Iowans Are Saying: Hinson Falling in Line with Party Leaders and Failing Iowans

Rep. Ashley Hinson is just six months into her first term, but already Northeastern Iowans are disappointed in her failed leadership.

From standing with party leaders to block a January 6 commission to investigate the extremism that led to an attack on our Capitol, to refusing to support the For the People Act to eliminate dark money in politics — Iowans from Cedar Falls to Waterville are calling out Hinson’s disastrous record.

Waterloo-Cedar Falls Courier: Roger White: Grassley, Ernst, Hinson reveal true loyalities with Jan. 6 vote

“Ashley Hinson, Chuck Grassley and Joni Ernst just made clear for us voters where their true loyalties are. With their votes against the bipartisan commission to investigate the Trump-inspired murderous riot and insurrection Jan. 6 at the U.S. Capitol, they have cemented their legacy as being in favor of lies, dictatorship, and anarchy and in opposition to voter-directed, democratic transfer of power. And on top of that, they want to hide the reality of what occurred on that fateful day by covering it up and pretending that it didn’t happen or calling it something other than what it was — an outright attack on our democracy.”

Cedar Rapids Gazette: Karen Pratte: Republicans restrict voting and undermine democracy

“Democrats in the U.S. House passed the For the People Act (HR1). This bill eliminates undisclosed dark money used to influence elections, makes it easier for people to register and vote, and has safeguards against voter discrimination laws and gerrymandering of districts. U.S. Rep. Ashley Hinson and all House Republicans voted no. […] For the sake of our democracy, it is imperative that each of us finds ways around the barriers to voting, vote in huge numbers, and defeat Republicans in 2022.”

Cedar Rapids Gazette: Peggy Stover: Hinson’s town hall riddled with misinformation

“I’ve had several meetings with Congresswoman Ashley Hinson’s Cedar Rapids staff to determine why she voted against a bill to protect health care workers from violence (HR 1195). […] When pressed for specifics, she answered with illogical chatter on voting procedures. […] Hinson is an ex-journalist who should know the importance of facts versus misinformation.”
