Congressman Scott Perry will spend much of tonight’s first debate in PA-10 doing everything he can to avoid talking about his record. Why? Because he doesn’t want South Central Pennsylvanians to know that he’s repeatedly voted against more affordable health care and against South Central Pennsylvania workers and their families.
Here’s what Perry won’t be talking about on the debate stage tonight:
Perry’s Anti-Worker Agenda
- During the current economic downturn from COVID-19, Perry complained that increased unemployment benefits were “too lucrative” – all while Pennsylvania’s unemployment rate continued to surge.
- During the 2018 government shutdown, in response to concerns that workers wouldn’t have enough money to get by, Perry pondered “who’s living that they’re not going to make it to the next paycheck?” and stated that he didn’t think people would be seriously impacted.
Perry’s Disastrous Health Care Record
- Perry compared the Affordable Care Act, which guarantees protections for Pennsylvanians with pre-existing conditions, to … ‘slavery and prohibition.’
- Even in the midst of a pandemic, Perry continues to support the partisan lawsuit that would dismantle the ACA. This comes after Perry voted 12 times to repeal the law while in Congress. His actions threaten the 300,900 Pennsylvanians in the 10th District who have pre-existing conditions.
- Perry voted against a bipartisan bill to lower the cost of prescription drugs, and now his Big Pharma allies have spent hundreds of thousands of dollars to get him reelected.
- Perry proudly stated that he doesn’t think coverage for maternity care should be mandatory because he’s done having kids.
Perry’s Big Corporate Tax Giveaway
- Perry voted for the GOP tax handout that gave tax breaks to large corporations and the wealthiest few at the expense of middle class Pennsylvanians. Just today, a Perry spokesperson said Perry was “proud” of that vote.
