WHO’S LYING NOW? LOBBYISTS TAKE VICTORY LAP ON FLIPPING PAULSEN’S VOTE AS HE TRIES TO SAVE FACE

It’s been a rough few days for Erik Paulsen and his DC lobbyist friends. First, he gets into a public spat with FP1 strategies, a DC lobbying group that took credit for reversing his position on the Border Adjustment Tax (BAT). Then, he sent a statement to the Washington Post trying to save face.

Now, the Star Tribune is highlighting Paulsen’s well-documented public support of the Border Adjustment Tax, clarifying that he was for it before he was against it, putting Paulsen in quite the pickle when it comes to his backflips trying to distance himself from lobbyists who clearly have his ear in Washington.

“It’s no secret that Erik Paulsen is deeply entrenched with Washington lobbyists and special interests, but it’s pretty telling that they’re openly taking a victory lap after flipping his vote,” said DCCC Spokesperson Rachel Irwin. “It took a bunch of Washington lobbyists to get Paulsen to side with Minnesota’s best interests. This petty squabble with Washington lobbyists proves Paulsen is spending too much time in DC instead of listening and talking to the Minnesotans he’s supposed to be representing in Congress.”
