Who’s Really Speaking For Ashley Hinson?

Hinson blames her repeated plagiarism on DC consultant

“Recovering journalist” Ashley Hinson is trying to do damage control amid multiple charges of her plagiarism, but it’s only making things worse. In an exclusive interview with KWWL last night, Hinson blamed over a dozen instances of plagiarism found by the New York Times in her campaign materials on a DC-based consultant firm that apparently has been writing all of her issue pages and policy op-eds.

Hinson’s admission that all of her policy content was written – and copied – by an outside consultant raises serious questions about where Ashley Hinson is getting her talking points – and what she actually stands for.

Since launching her campaign last May, Hinson has consistently dodged questions and refused to discuss where she stands on key issues like her party’s efforts to get rid of the Affordable Care Act and whether she believes Medicare should be able to negotiate lower prescription costs for all Americans. Now, more than ever, Iowans deserve to know:

  1. Does Ashley Hinson support the Republican-backed lawsuit to end all protections for pre-existing conditions in the middle of the pandemic?
  2. Would she have voted yes or no on HR3, a bill that will finally take on the drug companies?
  3. Are the rare answers she gives her actual positions, or the positions her DC consultant and her party bosses in Washington are writing for her?

Hinson’s plagiarism scandal calls into question the entire premise of her campaign and represents an irreparable breach of trust with Iowa voters. The least she can do now is be forthcoming about what she believes and who she’d really be answering to in Washington.
