After shamefully voting against an independent commission to investigate the deadly attack on the U.S. Capitol, Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy and the House GOP caucus are once again trying to block a bipartisan commission from uncovering the truth about how the violent attack on our democracy happened.
Lawmakers are even predicting that “McCarthy — if he opts to appoint members — will gravitate towards controllable Trump acolytes who can work to snarl the select committee’s progress.”
What are House Republicans so determined to hide?
“Instead of working to find out how a violent mob broke into the U.S. Capitol and put the lives of members, staff, Capitol Police, and the Vice President in grave danger, Leader McCarthy is working to make sure the truth never sees the light of day,” said DCCC Spokesperson Chris Taylor. “Their caucus has clearly found common cause with extremists and insurrectionists, and the American people deserve better than this dangerous hyper-partisan effort to block the truth.”
